Terms of Use

The rules and conditions that govern your use of GreenCast.

Welcome to GreenCast. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the GreenCast podcast application available on Android and the Web, as well as all related services and websites (collectively, the "Service"), operated by GreenCast ("we", "our", or "us").

In plain language: By using GreenCast you agree to these Terms. They're written to be fair and readable. The key points: don't abuse the Service, respect the content rights of podcasters, and understand that GreenCast Premium is a recurring subscription you can cancel at any time.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using GreenCast in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time (see Section 11). Continued use of GreenCast after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

GreenCast is a podcast player that lets you discover, subscribe to, stream, and download podcast episodes. The Service includes:

  • A podcast discovery directory powered by the Podcast Index catalogue.
  • Episode streaming and offline downloads stored on your device.
  • Cross-device sync of your subscriptions, playback position, queue, and settings between the Android app and the Web app.
  • User accounts with optional Google Sign-In.
  • Push notifications for new episodes from your subscribed podcasts (with your permission).
  • A free tier supported by native advertising via Google AdMob.
  • GreenCast Premium — a paid subscription that removes all ads and unlocks additional features.

We reserve the right to add, modify, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time, with or without notice, subject to the obligations set out in Section 11. We are not responsible for any loss or inconvenience caused by such changes.

3. Accounts & Eligibility

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use GreenCast (or 16 years old if you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom). By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under the applicable minimum age, you must not use the Service.

Account creation

You may register with an email address and password, or via Google Sign-In. You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information and for keeping it up to date. You may only create one account per person; duplicate accounts may be merged or removed at our discretion.

Account security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:

  • Use a strong, unique password and not share it with anyone.
  • Notify us immediately at info@greencast.tech if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
  • Sign out of your account when using shared or public devices.

We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with these security obligations.

Account deletion

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at info@greencast.tech. Upon deletion, your personal data will be permanently removed from our active systems within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations. If you have an active Premium subscription, you should cancel it before deleting your account (see Section 4).

4. Premium Subscriptions & Billing

What Premium includes

GreenCast Premium is a recurring paid subscription that removes all advertising and unlocks additional features. The current features and pricing are displayed in the app and on our website at the time of purchase. We may add, modify, or remove Premium features with reasonable notice.

Account recommended

You do not need a GreenCast account to purchase Premium. However, we strongly recommend creating a free account after subscribing. An account allows us to associate your subscription with your profile, restore it across devices, and contact you about billing-related matters (such as renewal reminders or subscription issues). You will be prompted to create one after completing your purchase.

Billing channels

Subscriptions are billed through the platform where you purchase:

  • Android (Google Play): Your subscription is managed and billed by Google Play. Payment terms, renewal, and cancellation are governed by the Google Play Terms of Service. To cancel, use the Google Play subscriptions management page.
  • Web (Stripe): Your subscription is billed by Stripe. You can manage and cancel your subscription directly from the app's Settings page.

Renewals and cancellation

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you retain access to Premium features until then, and no partial refunds are issued for unused time.

Refunds

Refund eligibility is determined by the billing platform through which you subscribed:

  • Google Play purchases: Subject to Google Play's refund policy. You can request a refund directly through Google Play within the applicable window.
  • Web (Stripe) purchases: Refund requests may be submitted to info@greencast.tech within 14 days of your initial subscription charge. We evaluate these on a case-by-case basis; refunds are not guaranteed for renewals or for periods already used.

Price changes

We may change the price of GreenCast Premium at any time. If the price of your active subscription changes, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance by email or in-app notice. If you do not cancel before the price change takes effect, you will be charged the new price on your next renewal.

Note: Removing the GreenCast app from your device does not automatically cancel your subscription. You must cancel through the billing platform (Google Play or our Settings page) to stop future charges.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use GreenCast only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

Prohibited actions

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, other user accounts, or our backend systems.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, crawlers, or scrapers to access or extract data from the Service at scale without our prior written consent.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the GreenCast app, except where permitted by applicable law.
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security feature of the Service, including mechanisms that prevent or restrict copying of content or enforce usage limitations.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with GreenCast.
  • Upload, transmit, or distribute any content that is unlawful, harmful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Use the Service in any way that could damage, overload, or impair our servers or infrastructure, or interfere with other users' access to the Service.
  • Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit access to the Service without our express written permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that we reasonably believe is in violation of these rules (see Section 10).

6. Third-Party Content

Podcast content

GreenCast is a podcast player. All podcast episodes, artwork, descriptions, and other media accessible through the Service are created by and remain the property of third-party podcast creators and their respective publishers ("Podcast Creators"). GreenCast does not produce, endorse, curate, verify, or take responsibility for any podcast content.

Episode audio and metadata are fetched directly from each podcast's RSS feed and streamed or downloaded to your device. GreenCast does not host or store episode audio files on our servers.

No endorsement

The presence of a podcast in the GreenCast directory does not imply our endorsement of its content, opinions, or accuracy. You access third-party podcast content entirely at your own risk. We are not liable for any loss or harm resulting from your reliance on content produced by Podcast Creators.

Reporting harmful content

If you believe a podcast listed in our directory contains illegal content, please report it via our feedback portal or by emailing info@greencast.tech. We will investigate and, where appropriate, remove it from the directory.

Third-party links and services

The Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites and services (e.g. Google Sign-In, Google AdMob, Stripe, Podcast Index). These are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of any third-party service.

7. Intellectual Property

GreenCast property

The GreenCast name, logo, app design, user interface, original text, and all software comprising the Service are the exclusive property of GreenCast and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any ownership of or licence to our intellectual property beyond the limited right to use the Service as described herein.

Licence to use the Service

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, limited licence to install and use the GreenCast app on devices you own or control, and to access the GreenCast web app, solely for your own personal, non-commercial use.

Podcast Creator rights

All podcast episodes, show artwork, episode artwork, and descriptions remain the intellectual property of their respective Podcast Creators. Your use of podcast content accessed through GreenCast is for personal, non-commercial listening only. Redistribution, re-upload, or commercial use of any podcast content without the creator's permission is prohibited.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time.
  • Any podcast feed, episode, or metadata will be accurate, complete, or up to date.
  • Downloaded episode files will always be playable, or that downloads will complete successfully under all network conditions.
  • Sync between devices will be instantaneous or will never experience conflicts.
  • The Service will be free of viruses, malware, or other harmful components introduced by third-party podcast feeds.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GREENCAST SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO GREENCAST IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM; OR (B) USD $10.

These limitations apply regardless of the legal theory on which a claim is based (contract, tort, statute, or otherwise), even if GreenCast has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations on liability, in which case the above limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by local law.

10. Termination

Termination by you

You may stop using GreenCast at any time. If you wish to permanently delete your account and all associated data, email info@greencast.tech with the subject "Account Deletion Request". Remember to cancel any active Premium subscription before deleting your account.

Termination by us

We may suspend or permanently terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe:

  • You have materially violated these Terms or our Privacy Policy.
  • Your account is being used for fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity.
  • Continuing to provide access to your account would expose GreenCast or other users to legal, reputational, or operational harm.

Where we suspend or terminate an account for reasons other than a Terms violation, we will endeavour to give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data. If your account is terminated due to a material breach of these Terms, no refund will be issued for any unused Premium subscription period.

Effect of termination

Upon termination, your licence to use the Service ends immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will continue to apply.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, applicable law, or our business practices. When we do, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
  • Notify you of material changes (e.g. new restrictions on use, changes to billing terms) via a prominent in-app notice or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

For non-material changes (typo corrections, clarifications that do not alter your rights), the updated Terms take effect immediately upon publication. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Previous versions are available upon request.
